AirSerbia opens flights from Belgrade to Platov

The first flight from Belgrade has been operated by AirSerbia to the Platov International Airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC).

AirSerbia is a new carrier for the Platov Airport and Belgrade is a new destination. As per the existing aviation tradition, the new flight was welcomed at Platov with a water arch formed by jets of water from the hoses of fire engines.

Official representatives of AirSerbia arrived with the first flight. In Platov, the carrier’s top executives met with Minister of Transport for the Rostov Region Vladimir Okunev and CEO Platov Airport Aleksandr Serov.

Mr. Okunev congratulated the passengers as well as the staff of the Airport and Airlines on the inauguration of a new destination in the route network.

“The opening of flights on the new route for Platov Airport shows that our joint efforts to expand the geography of operations are bearing fruit. The opening of the new route in such a difficult period is a remarkable milestone,” said Okunev. “I congratulate you on the onset of flights!”

“Platov Airport is always happy to welcome new carriers. We hope for long and fruitful cooperation with AirSerbia. The new Rostov-on-Don – Belgrade route is very important for us, as it will boost international and domestic air traffic. Belgrade is a major transport centre in Europe. In its turn, Platov has a developed network of routes to Russian regions. These factors open bright prospects for Rostov Airport to evolve into a major a transfer hub. Platov already boasts successful hub experience of delivering its services to flights from Russian regions abroad,” said Mr. Serov.

Air Serbia flights on the Belgrade - Rostov-on-Don - Belgrade route will be operated twice a week, Fridays and Sundays (Mondays).

On Friday the flight will depart from Belgrade at 13:40 and arrive in Platov at 17:40. The return flight leaves for the Serbian capital at 20:15, arriving in Belgrade at 22:30.

On Sundays, the flight departs from Belgrade at 20:30 and arrives in Platov at 00:30 Monday. The return flight will depart at 02:45, arriving in Belgrade at 05:00.

Local time is indicated for each airport.

Belgrade is evolving into one of Europe’s largest transportation hubs. AirSerbia is a strategic partner of Etihad Airways, participating in the Etihad Guest loyalty programme. The partnership offers the opportunity to travel over the Serbian national carrier’s route network while taking advantage of connection flights operated by Etihad partners in different countries. In addition, Belgrade is also attractive as a destination for sightseeing tourism.

Russian citizens do not require visas to enter Serbia; they can stay in this country for up to 30 days. To enter Serbia, you’ll need the negative results of PCR test in English on paper with a stamp. The test must be done not earlier than 48 hours before arrival.

Check the timetable, terms of carriage and ticket fares on the Airline’s website. The current flight status can be found on the website of Platov airport in the ‘online board’ section: information is displayed one day before departure. At Platov Airport services are available only for passengers wearing a face mask.

We are delighted that in spite of the circumstances, we are able to expand our route network and strengthen our presence in Russia, a strategically important market for us. By launching new flights, we contribute to the strengthening of tourism and business ties between our nations. This is corroborated by high demand and occupancy of the flights to Rostov-on-Don in the initial period of their operation
