Platov Airport Serviced Three Millionth Passenger

The Platov International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) serviced over three million passengers year-to-date. The record three-millionth passenger checked in today on the flight of the Azimuth Airline, departing from Platov to the Kurumoch Airport in Samara. Dmitry Tulanov, the resident of the Don capital, has become the jubilee passenger of the Rostov airport.

Minister of Transport of the Rostov Region Andrei Ivanov and Executive Director of the Platov International Airport Alexander Serov congratulated the jubilee passenger. Dmitry Tulanov, who opened the fourth million in the passenger traffic of the air harbor, was presented with the annual certificate for service in executive lounges of domestic and international flights of the Rostov airport and the certificate for free flight to any destination in the route network of the Azimuth Airline. Dmitry was delivered to the aircraft ramp by Audi A8 long car, which is used in air harbor for carriage of VIP passengers.

“The new Platov Rostov airport hosted first flights less than a year ago, while today we have already become witnesses to a milestone event that occurred for the first time throughout the history of the Rostov aviation,” says Alexander Serov, Executive Director of the Platov Airport. “Three millions passengers is a new indicator of air mobility in the Rostov Region, which was achieved owing to construction of a new, modern and comfortable airport in the region. We registered passenger traffic over two million for five years in succession and now, one month prior to the year-end, took another milestone threshold,” he adds.

Note that Samara is one of the most popular regional air destinations for Rostov residents. 26,340 people took flights from Rostov-on-Don to one of the largest cities in the Volga Region year-to-date. Direct scheduled flights to 25 Russian regional airports were made in total over the year from the Platov Airport, with the overall passenger traffic on these flights exceeding 350,000 people. Scheduled and charter flights from the Platov Airport were made during 2018 by 30 Russian and foreign airlines in 60 destinations.

Passenger traffic growth in the Platov Airport is above average figures of the Russian aviation industry as compared to 2017 and amounts to 20.5%. Key drivers for increase of air transportation volumes are creation of conditions for development of the route network of the base air carrier - Azimuth Airline, use of transfer potential of the airport on domestic and international flights, and servicing of participants and guests of five matches of the FIFA World Cup.
