Platov international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) received special insignia from Rostov Region’s Governor “For Clemency and Charity”. The decorating event was held on 4 September 2020 in the city administration’s building.
Platov airport was honored with this prestigious distinction for participating in the initiative of the Airports of Regions holding to provide lonely senior citizens of Rostov with hot meals during the lockdown caused by the spread of coronavirus infection.
Despite the difficult economic situation of the aviation industry as a whole and the losses incurred by airports, Platov assumed the obligation to help the most vulnerable group — retirees older than 65 quarantined in their homes.
Every day more than 500 three-meal rations including full-fledged and balanced breakfasts, lunches and dinners are made by the inflight catering shop, whereas social services and volunteers would daily deliver these food kits to people in need across the city. Overall almost 45,000 rations have been prepared.
