The Air-9 show at Platov international airport (part of the Airports of Regions holding) crowned the Transformation laboratory festival in Rostov-on Don. The project became possible due to collaboration between the Airports of Regions holding and independent Theatre 18+ in Rostov.
The show of Sergey Chekhov, Elena Kholodova and Vladimir Bocharov (the project’s creative team) makes the audience join the authors in their investigation of “home”. What does this mean for each of us and what associations and feelings does it evoke? The text of the show consists of several documented stories and reflections on the declared theme, collected by the project authors in an attempt to answer the question: is it possible to come back home? Or does this journey remain an infinite chase of an elusive point for each, which just cannot be caught?
In this case the airport proves to be an ideal space, a point of transformation sending each participant on an individual travel – from check-in for the flight of Azimuth Airlines to the exit via the Arrivals lounge and then searching for answers to most important questions in the inner self.
Most of the action unfolds in the audio format augmented by images on multimedia plasma screens. Judging by the feedback from Transformation participants, the airport show was one of the festival’s most prominent projects.
