Platov International Airport (managed by Airports of Regions MC) was named among the top three best airports in Russia and the CIS by UK-based Skytrax. Rostov-on-Don Airport was second only to Heydar Aliyev International Airport (Baku) and Sheremetyevo International Airport. Koltsovo (Ekaterinburg) and Kurumoch (Samara) airports (managed by Airports of Regions MC) are in the top ten as well. Airports in Kazan, Sochi and St Petersburg are also among the best in this group.
The World Airport Awards is known as Passenger’s Choice Awards, as it is based on passenger feedback. In 2021, passengers from more than 500 airports around the world voted for best airports. The World Airport Awards, which evaluates customer service and airport facilities, is considered the benchmark for quality in civil aviation. This year’s awards put a special focus on how airports are getting adapted to the challenges posed by the novel coronavirus pandemic.
This spring, Skytrax experts confirmed the high standards of COVID-safety at Kurumoch, Koltsovo and Platov airports: based on the audit results, they were awarded the maximum rating of 5 stars, indicating a high level of cleanliness and strict compliance with all procedures for passenger service.
Kurumoch, Koltsovo and Platov airports were included in the list of the world’s safest airports, compiled by Skytrax on the basis of a passenger survey. Passengers assessed compliance with COVID-19 standards by availability of awareness-raising signage in terminals, social distancing markings, visibility and availability of hand sanitizers, and cleanliness of terminals.
