Three Millionth Passenger of Azimuth Airlines Congratulated at Platov

Azimuth Airlines – the backbone carrier of Platov international airport – welcomed its three millionth passenger. Three million flyers have already used the services of Azimuth Airlines since 2017, when this company commenced passenger services. This token passenger was the native of Rostov-on-Don Ms. Svetlana Shevchenko who was flying from Platov to Sochi.

The “jubilee” passenger was congratulated by Executive Director of Azimuth Airlines Eduard Teplitsky and Executive Director of Platov Airport Alexander Serov. Ms. Shevchenko was handed a certificate for a free flight to any destination of the Azimuth route network as well as a certificate for free services in the business lounges of Platov airport.

“Today is a very important day for Azimuth Airlines. Three million passengers for the initial three years of operational activity is a success milestone for the entire team of our airline, showcasing the effective implementation of the chosen strategy. Azimuth Airlines has restarted international flights from Rostov-on-Don: to Yerevan in November, to Bishkek in December, in addition to first scheduled flights to Istanbul, Minsk and Astana. This year, in spite of restrictive measures in view of the pandemic, the airline plans to transport 1m240thou passengers, which is comparable to the level of 2019. The plan calls for more than 2 million passengers transported. This dynamics became possible due to the support of the Rostov Region’s government, development of interregional routes by the airline, new additions to the fleet, and collaboration with our partners – in particular, with our backbone airport Platov and Sber financial conglomerate,” commented Executive Director of Azimuth Airlines JSC Eduard Teplitsky.

“For Platov airport three millionth passenger of the backbone airline is a remarkable event parading positive dynamics of the air services,” underscored Platov Airport Executive Director Alexander Serov. “Furthermore, this result is the best evidence that Azimuth Airlines faces up to the challenges of 2020 together with us in a dignifying manner. The passengers of Azimuth Airlines make up a significant part of the total traffic at Platov airport. For the second year in a row Azimuth has been retaining leading positions among Platov’s carriers in terms of passenger traffic. Therewith, interregional services on direct routes bypassing Moscow showed stable growth in July – October 2020. Our joint task for the year to come is to preserve and develop the route network of flights from Platov airport.”

Platov airport’s backbone carrier Azimuth Airlines is one of Russia’s youngest airlines specializing in direct interregional flights from Rostov-on-Don and other centers of South Russia to Russian destinations. Overall from January 1 to October 31 of 2020 Azimuth has provided its services for 426,900 passengers at Platov airport.

In 2020 flights to 41 domestic and overseas destinations have been operated from Platov airport. Of this amount 24 routes are direct flights between Russian regions on the routes bypassing Moscow, 18 of these serviced by Azimuth. Thus Platov is one of the few regional airports having a developed route network of domestic inland flights.
